my pash for ash

yes, my 'pash' for ian holm as science officer ash is still going strong. i was digging through some old files, and i found this excellent shot, and couldn't believe i hadn't posted it yet. i can't take credit for it, though. jean-lucien screen captured it, and tricked it to his exacting specifications before he sent it my way. i've been sitting on it, it seems, for over a year. cinematically speaking, its taken from the part near the end, where he goes all 'robot'-crazy and tries to kick the hell out of ripley. (sigourney weaver) yet, he remains cool the whole time he kicks ass and tries to choke her with a rolled-up magazine. like the great peter tork once said, '...yeah, cool, machine.' (?) this shot, when 'clicked-to-enlarge,' reveals the sublime quality of jean-lucien's equipment. the grain is lush and the shot is vibrant and clean. (its like he's got a bmw, and i've got a honda. hey, don't get me wrong, hondas are great... they're dependable, quick, and virtually indestructable, but i drove a bmw once, and there was a very creamy difference.) but back to the shot... great stuff, right? ahhh, ian... why don't you give me a call?

ash takes a peek

yeah, i spent some more time tonight rescuing some of the files i 'lost' when my computer crashed a while back. so, ummm, i don't really have any groundbreaking ideas, but just to mark my place i thought i'd post a shot of science officer ash. (ian holm from 'alien') i haven't posted a shot of him for a long time. here, you see him taking a sneakity-peek at the 'organism.' actually the 'peek' is not so sneaky... its his job. this might be the only thing i post tonight. i was literally awake until the sun came up last night, so i'm hoping to hit the pillow a little sooner tonight. i haven't rolled 'alien' in quite a while. i rolled it enough to memorize it, and the seasons changed and... well, that's the way it happens sometimes.

k is for kane

yes, john hurt as kane from 'alien.' he doesn't have too much screen time, comparatively, but he is immortalized by being the 'host' for the creature. he smokes a few balaji imperials, looks worn out, foreshadows his demise by complaining that he 'feels dead,' and is the first one to volunteer to leave the ship and explore the origins of the mysterious 'transmission.' he also gets to writhe and scream and freak out as the thing 'hatches' from his chest cavity. i first became aware of john hurt as the voice of hazel, the brave and bold leader of the escaping rabbits in 'watership down.' i saw him in 'the elephant man,' but obviously he was hardly recognizable. i did see his tremendous performance as the closeted-gay cop 'kerwin,' in the 1982 comedy-thriller 'partners,' where he starred alongside the 'straight cop' played by ryan o'neal. now that's the kind of part that gets noticed.

a is for science officer ash

yes, ohhh yes... i haven't posted a shot of my darling ian holm lately. i searched my archives, and i don't think i've posted this exact shot yet. i mean, i think i have one a few frames off of this one, but his face does so many tiny and lovely things, it think it's like every frame is completely different. i can't decide which costume i like better on ash... his sky-blue white thermal-sleeve outfit, or the emerald green zip-up snug flightsuit? (shown) he looks so hot in both of them. i love this shot... he looks a little worried. perhaps he's wondering if his scheme will be a success? who knows. anyway, i realize some of you out there may not 'get' what's so damned hot and handsome about him, but what the hell... this is MY little station after all. hey ian... call me! (cut to quick shot of me like, winking saucily as i make a 'phone-up-to-my-ear' gesture with my hand.) CUT.

stasis

i haven't felt like posting anything lately. hopefully i'll be inspired soon. maybe its my summertime seasonal depression, its hard to know for sure. but here's ian holm as science officer ash to hold my place for me. wish me luck. all my love...

pussycat in space

i found this great picture last night. its sigourney weaver as the tough, smart, and sexy ripley. she's third in command of the 'nostromo,' and here she is, experiencing some of what i call 'quality cat time.' my sleeping schedule is all out of whack, so this may be the only thing i post tonight. love.

passion for ash

yes, i haven't posted a shot of ian holm as science officer ash in a long time, so here goes one i just caught and tricked like, within the last ten minutes. like, i had 'alien' rolling anyway, and i thought i might as well get a close-up of him as he explains the terms of their contract to parker and brett. i know i caught him like, in between words, but its still a pretty good shot. well, in MY mind, its almost impossible for him to look bad. i'm so crazy when it comes to him. its no wonder i'm on like, three different kinds of medications-to-keep-me-sane.

the science division

... should be able to help them, but science officer ash is less than fully cooperative at this stage in the game. ash seems mystified with the entire horrific ordeal playing out before his cold aquamarine eyes. he even dares some gallow's humor by wistfully referring to the newly-hatched bloody alien spawn as '...kane's son.' this diabolical remark goes almost unnoticed by the remaining members of the crew. i suppose that's because they've got more pressing matters on their minds; namely saving their human skins from a heart-puncturing bloody space grave. he's as hot as he is cold.

movie poster

ahhh, where do i start tonight? i feel a little sleepy, but i want to at least the mark the day with a quick... visual... you know. so how about a mod movie poster for one of my all-time favorite films, 'alien.' hey, i even have it rolling right now! dallas is crawling through the heating ducts... or the cooling ducts, the air shafts, whatever. i this might be a Polish poster, but i don't remember and i don't feel like looking it up right now. i like the stark design and colors. very cool.

ash darkly

its been several nights since i posted a shot of my darling ian holm as science officer ash. so here goes one more. i love him in these close-ups. apparently robots from weyland-yutani corporation can sweat, because ash is visibly sweating it out, waiting for kane, lambert, and dallas to come back with the 'life form.' is he programmed to sweat so like, humans won't get suspicious and blow his cover? who knows. i think he sweats because he's hot... despite the '...deep cold, well below the line.' so hot.

playing it cool

yes, the devious and gorgeous science officer ash listens, his face inscrutible, as kane relates his '...horrible dream about...smothering.' kane drinks a few cups of water, ash drinks endless cups of milk. i don't have too much poetic to say about this shot, other than this entire movie has me by the 'cult' throat, and won't let go. hey, you wanna hear something really 'fan' ridiculous? my friend belinda brought me over an assortment of scented candles to choose from as a housewarming gifts, and i secretly chose the one i imagined ash's cologne smells like. yeah, i'm totally insane. insane-in-love with ian holm, that is.

fight

this may well be my 'nightly ash.' i saw this picture long before i saw the movie. after seeing it, i almost wish their violent crescendo would've lasted about 30 seconds longer. sigourney and ian holm seem to be pretty well-matched, physically...and it would've been really hot to see them get down to the biting and kicking and pinning. i realize that probably reveals something wicked about me, but what else is new?

ash kisser

yeah, its a juvenile joke, i know... but i'd kiss the lovely science officer ash anywhere. even on the ship. in this scene, he's got so much going on. the way his eyes go all coy after he says, '...dallas, it has to go back,' just melts me. he's so devious, so like, cunning and sexy... and somehow he manages not to get blood spatter on his outfit despite being like, right there when Kane's chest explodes. i don't think he really took time out to do laundry. god, he's cute. sexy-in-space.

my rival

sometimes you show your interest in the opposite sex by throwing rocks.

ashes to ashes

its past one... time for my nightly ian holm as Ash. in this screen shot, you can see clearly, the official green fabric and lacing along his lower back. every inch is worth scrutiny. as he opens the inner hatch in his malachite flightsuit, i sigh and dream.

nightly ash

he sparkles like an emerald in this shot. cold, hard, glinting and rare. virtually my ideal. but i'd need more than the Nostromo to reach Ian Holm in this particular sexy guise... i'd need a time machine. for it was 1979 when this lovely chap was walking around some sci-fi set, dressed like that, with that silky close haircut and his hot cinched waist and emerald flightsuit, plotting to ensure delivery of the life form. ian, tonight i will devote my fantasies to you; all other priorities rescinded... i repeat, all other priorities rescinded. sigh.
