hall has it all

slinky sexy jerry hall... she's a broad that's got it all.
she's got the fame, she's so damn slick... she seduced the jagger; mick.
her shadowed eyes, her glossy mouth, she talks with a 'ya'll,' yeah, she's from the south.
she's so damn pretty it's almost scary... she seduced mr. bryan ferry.
in sucky 'batman' she kissed up to jack, at studio 54, she had a coke attack.
she played mrs. robinson on the stage... she hardly looks her age.
jerry, jerry, jerry hall...
i saw a drag queen who looked like you at Four Seasons Mall.

chug it!

hey, what's better than those candid black and white shots that reveal the hedonistic goings-on at studio 54? and this is a great shot to illustrate what i mean. its seems like, whoever happens to be pictured, celebrity-wise, seems to illicit the response, "...well, of course they were there." like, if you tried to make up a group of celebs who'd be hobnobbing at studio 54, no matter how mismatched the group seemed to be, you'd still believe they were actually there together. like, if someone told you they had a photo of tatum o' neal, gore vidal, divine, and a naked dude, you'd be like, '...sure, okay.' or like, perchance the grouping of bianca jagger, olivia de haviland, joey dellesandro, lou reed, and a tiger cub, you'd be like, "...i'm not even blinking." in THIS photo, it looks like we have bianca jagger, andy warhol, jerry hall... and are those last two people like, calvin klein, and lulu...? yeah, i'll bet THAT was a wild night that absolutely nobody remembers. i can't lie, though... part of me would love to have been there. coke it!

a pair of freaks

yeah, that might be a bit cold. you will no doubt recognize these two young lovers. yes, that's mr. mickety-mick jagger in the dress on the right, and the statuesque miss jerry 'hey ya'll' hall in the suit on the right. i don't know why i'm posting this. probably just the freak factor. i mean, i have nothing against either one of them. i actually think jerry looks great. but mick, well... mick looks old and tired and used-up enough to be mistaken for... well, keith richards, actually. still, this shot looks like they have a pretty fun time together. are they still together? or is jerry banging some other english rocker i haven't heard about? anyway, i'm all about clothes swapping and a little gender bending. but man, look at those lines in jagger's face. its like a road map of the back roads in asheboro, north carolina.

bryan ferry and jerry hall : price of love - video

i've loved this one since about 1987. i remember it was played on 'night flight' one night, (a cable program that featured music videos and interviews) ...and jean-lucien and i managed to get it on videotape. i remember thinking it didn't exactly sound like anything that was going around at that time... you know, on 'the charts.' but it didn't sound 'old-fashioned' to us either. and it didn't sound like the lilting, tame and dreamy sound of bryan and roxy music in the video for 'angel eyes,' which we'd already seen. no, this video had a rawness about it that wasn't quite metal, and wasn't quite pop. i confess, at the time i was young enough to be puzzled when it came to labeling it as one thing or another. but hey, i know now... its glam rock, kids. dig it. and pay the ultimate price, that price of love. (mmm, and do you think duran duran might've had a look at this clip before they came up with the concept for their video for the song 'my own way'..?? i'm just asking.)

jerry lights up

yeah, i think this might be another shot taken inside the weird and fabled
'studio 54.' i love almost any studio 54 picture. i tried to find that shot of bianca jagger riding a white horse through the discotecque. (mmm, i wonder if the 'white horse' symbolized anything...? (mmm, sniffety-sniff...!) this one is almost cliche, considering the stars are none other than andy 'white bangs' warhol, and jerry 'hey, i'm just glad to be here, ya'll...!' hall. he's lighting her fire. and i'm guessing that was probably the only female fire he bothered to light that night. she looks wonderful, though. she's living proof that southern girls can at least look sophisticated. i look at her gorgeous flowing hair, long legs, strong cheekbones, and fine teeth, and i can't help but wonder what kind of 'deep-south-livermush-and-biscuits collard-greens-and-grits' type foods she ate growing up. and hey, i'm not bagging on that kind of food... i grew up on that stuff myself. and, for what its worth, i have been to the 'studio 54' of my own mind.

socked

i give full and respectful credit to two individuals : helmut newton who took this picture, and jerry hall, who posed for it. i love it. its striking without being disgusting. its gorgeous without being too pretty. helmut newton has an unflinching eye for stark sights, and jerry hall has unbelievable bone structure. jerry proves that a goddess can, and very often does, have a strong southern accent. i mean, her drawl is a heck of a lot thicker than mine, but still... i admire the fact that she sounds like that and is still able to land not only scores of high-profile magazine covers, but also such trophy lovers as bryan ferry and mr. mick jagger. (he's not 'sir' mick jagger yet, is he?) so here's to you, jerry... kiss them for me.
