neil

yes, its been a slow week here on the planet. hopefully by next week i'll be flush with various wild ideas. hey, dig how cold it is out here tonight... 8! yes, a big bad single-digit 8 degrees! its a good thing i've got a fire going. okay, where was i? umm, yes... i love you all, like 'late-nite' style. and here to mark my place is a 'just for laffs' shot taken by me from my screen. its nigel planer, as neil, in 'the young ones.' and if you don't already know what's going on in this shot, its hard to explain, so i think i'm just gonna 'let it be' visual. i love you all, i hope you're keeping warm, and i promise to be back soon with more pearls and laughs. peace.

another night off

yes, i'm taking another night off, on the grounds that tonight i'm '...just not feelin' it.' so, to hold my place tonight are the lads from 'the young ones.' in this shot, they're sitting in a laundrette, grudgingly giving thier filthy junk a much-needed wash. and i guess today is officially thursday, which is MY laundry day, so you know i should take neil's advice from that same scene... NEIL: "...come on guys... like, the sooner we start like, the sooner we finish..." he's like, 'zen' right about that. like, i wasn't even thinking about laundry day when i chose this shot tonight... i chose it because it reflected my '....(sigh) ...whatever..." kind of pissy, indifferent attitude. maybe i'll feel more 'positive' tomorrow.

h is for holland ... julian miles holland

also known as 'jools.' no, i don't live in england, and if is wasn't for the wild and crazy youtube, i'd know almost nothing about his late-nite show. but i can say with all sincerity, that i have been in love with jools holland since the first time i laid eyes on him... and i'm almost positive that was when i saw him thinly disguised as the leader of the 'ken bishop's nice twelve,' a musical guest on the mid-80's MTV airing of the comedy hit 'the young ones.' (hey, i think by the time you see this, i may have already posted the video.) actually, why the hell don't i go ahead and post it now! here it is, ladies and gents... my likely first glimpse of the great jools holland, along with at least one member of squeeze, and with at least one 'police'-man on drums, doing a number written by bob dylan... it was cut from the dvd release, but thanks to the electric intersection, here it is for us to dig on. and jools, i love you.

roight...?

anyone familiar with the 'young ones' tv series has probably seen what may be the funniest six or seven minutes in 80's british comedy. my partner and i have often said that if either one of us is in a coma, just hearing the sound from the 'nozin' aroun' skit could, and most likely, would, revive us... its just so damned funny it reminds you that life is indeed, worth living. so, here's to ben elton and all the rest! it's our world too! roight...??
