police

this is one of my favorite recent book covers. the main image is john malkovich from the groovy dark comedy 'the shadow of the vampire.' i had that picture in my picksh collection for literally years before i was finally moved to put it on a cover. after all these years i am still in love with john malkovich. and bubbling beneath him we can see images of ronan vibert, georgina hale, oliver reed from 'tommy,' and nigel planer from 'the young ones.' i think i chose the word 'police' because well, i already had it printed out, and because i had recently finally read '1984.' you know... the 'thought police,' and all that. i am very proud of this one. too bad the book is all full of hot trash... but what can you do?

va-va-va valmont!

you don't need a reason to celebrate valmont. i mean, check it out... he's smooth, gorgeous, sexy, velvety, and a master of seduction. his voice, his swaggering manner, the look in his eyes... who can resist? well, I can't... join the club. i got this screen capture a long time ago... which is a miracle in and of itself, on account of the only dvd release (so far) is 'crappy' at best. hopefully there'll be a 'criterion' or something released in the near future. wow... the longer i look at a photo like this, i realize it kinda sucks that guys aren't encouraged to walk around dressed like that these days. then again, i don't know how many 'modern' guys could 'rock' a look like this one so successfully. hey, these days, i don't know many 'modern guys' period... but that's beside the point. so.... as this may be the last entry i post tonight, dig that face.

val-entine's day

hey, i'm just gonna say right off that i'm real tired tonight, so i'm probably only going to post one thing. so, as my valentine's card to you all, i'm presenting this silky, sexy shot of john malkovich-as-valmont, kissing your hand. (mmm, we can all dream, right?) and it seems appropriate too, when you consider the center of his powdered wig 'do' comes to a heartshape in the middle. he wants to spread his love to all the lovely ladies out there. because what he has for you is pure, true love. hey, its 'beyond his control' to love many girls at one time. so... he asks with a knowing kiss, will you be his valentine? hey, who wouldn't be, am i right ladies?

flash ponytail

hey, i'm going fishing tonight. i'm overdue to pearldive for fresh picksh and junk, so i'm leaving 'the planet' in the very sexy and capable 'hands' of valmont's dreamy ponytail. yes, i took this shot from the dvd... hey, you know a guy is 'sexy-from-all-angles,' when you go out of your way to get a shot 'from the back,' like where you can't even see his face. i amped up the color a little bit... well, not too much... more like i fiddled around with the contrast. even that sassy hand on his hip adds to the sultry coolness. hopefully i'll have something more for you guys tomorrow night, because you know i love you all. sweet dreams.

a little valmont never hurt anybody

...well, unless you're one of the two chicks in the movie who he like, screws around with and like, does the emotional equivalent of 'leaving them for dead.' so, man... i've had like, zero-bust ideas for anything to post lately. so, not unlike last night's 'ann-margret cleavage,' i figured i couldn't go wrong with a great screen capture of malkovich in his sexy, sexy 'ribbon-and-wrist-array' rags. i just had the disc in a little while ago, and took a couple of fast shots. not a lot of planning involved, just point-and-shoot kind of stuff. so girls and guys, enjoy this creamy strawberry-scented profile of the man, the man who knows how to break your heart. but you know he makes it... ungh-ungh! ...hurt so good.

valmont holds my place

yes, i have nothing interesting for you tonight, lovers... so i'm leaving the planet in the very capable and flash lace wrist array hands of monseiur vicomte de valmont. (don't bag on my spelling, its late.) i hope my devious mind will spring forth with new life in the new week. until then, cheers. and sweet dreams. i love you all.

blue danser valmont

i don't think i've posted this before. its just a sparkly little sloice of notebook art. i'm not sure where the left-hand side came from. i'm pretty sure it was just a lovely book cover or something. and, needless to say, on the right is the beribboned and sexy mr. john malkovich as valmont. i added the number 12 for decorative reasons, and the inkwork was all done by hand. (okay, so i touched it up a little bit after i scanned it in, but you get the idea.) but the french suits him... and considering it was scanned from an actual handwritten notebook page, i think it came off rather well. dig it, the smooth and silky valmont. one more valmont...

...never hurt anybody. i know i've posted a shot of john-as-val like, very recently, but i came across this one whilst digging through some old files, and i thought it was so 'creamy-and-dreamy' i couldn't resist. man, what a profile! yet another reason for me to invent-and-use a time machine. namely, so i could go back in time and like, do things to him whilst he was wearing that outfit. i know i must've 'screen captured' this one, because i know how hard it is to find shots of john-from-liaisons on the web. there's just something about that ribbon... that ponytail. like, you know you're really 'hot stuff ' when you can make a powdered wig look that good. he's such a 'smooth operator.' (man, why did i say that? ) anyway, enjoy the creamy, mysterious goodness for yourself. hey, there's enough of 'the vicomte' to go around, you know?

sweet val

man, i'm exhausted. i'm on like, four hours of sleep. still, i wanted to post something. its no wonder i've had mr. malkovich on the brain this week. so i figured i'd dig up my copy of 'dangerous liaisons' and try to get some shots from it. but i'm here to tell you, i only own like three dvd's that have worse film stock than 'liaisons.' i mean, its so grainy and vague and gauzy and unkind. only 'evil under the sun' and the duran duran tour film 'sing blue silver' are more of a pain in the ass. man, who the hell photographed that thing? or maybe it was the video transfer, who knows. still, i was able to get this silky shot of malkovich as valmont, saying good-bye to the fragile and annoying michelle pfeiffer. hey, its the best i could do. i worked with that film for over an hour and i finally had to like, give up. but he's lovely, yes?

his eyes say yes...

but his lips say no. don't believe him. valmont is a mysterious and dangerous creature. you can't trust him. you cannot resist him. those eyes, those lips... those artificial curls, that bone structure... that insincere tricky wisp in his voice. what planet is this one from? you ask yourself. that ugly one who wears brocade and lace as naturally as dusty, trail-busted denim... that one who speaks with serpentine ease. this one must want something. and you know what? you are going to give it to him. you are going to give this silverthreaded slitherer all he requests. so... you break a few rules... so you betray a few long-held beliefs... what difference does it make? valmont wants to meet you. drop everything, dammit. blow out the candles and leave a day's worth of milk out for the cat. just split and don't forget to lock the door behind you. he's waiting...

malkovich as murnau

sorry, i couldn't resist. i've had john malkovich on the brain lately. i've had 'dangerous liaisons' on my regular rotation, as well as his theatrical effort as 'lee' from sam shepherd's 'true west.' (in which he starred opposite a young gary sinise.) i snatched this shot myself from the 'shadow of the vampire' dvd. and it wasn't easy. the quality of the transfer on the official dvd is like, the grainy-worst. maybe it was the fault of the photography in the first place, i dunno. all i know is it's murder trying to get a decent, clear freeze-frame from that movie. but here he is, my gorgeous and wicked mr. malkovich as the enigmatic freiderich murnau, in a freaky cave, bargaining with the vampiric creature known as 'orlock.' (played with hilarious brilliance by willem dafoe.) i think this movie is well worth a look. it also features eddie izzard, ronan vibert, cary elwes, and udo kier. it's an imperfect film, but great fun. it grew on me like wild ivy. its a very voyeuristic film. you get the feeling the actors have no idea anyone is ever watching. and i love that. (ps. this one enlarges gorgeously.)

dangerous letter

ummm, i don't have a lot of ideas tonight, but since i've had 'dangerous liaisons' on semi-heavy rotation, i thought a sexy picture of john malkovich as valmont couldn't hurt. here he is writing a sly, manipulative letter on a concubine's ass. but man, he looks good doing it. i know the long hair is a wiggety-wig... john hasn't had a full head of hair since he was like, nineteen years old. but yeah, if john actually walked around looking like that, he'd be dragging girls clinging to his ankles through the new york-and-LA-streets. but not only would i need a wig and costume, but a time machine. (...mmm, story of my life.) yeah, after all these years, john-as-valmont has a place in my drastically romantic, almost-self-destructively romantic heart. he would sooo 'have me.' and its also a fun movie for me because michelle pfeiffer's character doesn't have the easiest time. which is cool, because she gets on my nerves. if you ask me, out of the three principal player's fates, i think valmont's is the easiest. in short, i think he wins 'the war.'

john vs. john

umm, i know i'm gonna get hit for this, but i think i choose john malkovich. especially in that outfit. but seriously though, if john l. and john m. got into a no-holds-barred fight to the death, i might bet on mr. lennon in that instance. he seems to have enough stuffed and buried rage to slaughter at least malkovich and damn keanu. (who was also in 'liaisons,' in case you forgot.) anyway, i hope you dig this slice of 'john-on-john' notebook art. okay, this is probably gonna be the last one i write tonight, so all of you be good, and i'll see you back here soon. i love you all.

a little valmont

yeah, my energy seems to have like, split on me. i was all set to really post a bunch of crap, but i just don't have the steam. so i dug kind of deep in my files and found this cool screen capture of john malkovich as valmont. man, its too bad he can't go around dressed like that, like 24-7. so sexy. i don't even have anything clever or witty to say about it. but i figured i couldn't go wrong. so dig him, and hopefully i'll have more for you tomorrow night. i love you all.

m is for malkovich

do i even need to say 'john' malkovich? i mean, there aren't a lot of other malkoviches out there in the public eye. i'll make this one short, because the shot is small. i had my 'dangerous liaisons' disc in, and was trying to get some usable stuff. but i have to admit, the flim stock on the dvd was less than luscious. they should like, 'criterion' remaster it or something. but i like this one, because it looks like he's blowing a kiss or something, but actually i think i caught him on the end of the word 'no.' he looks so young and silky and gorgeous in that outfit. seriously, everything valmont walks around in is divine. he never looked better. i mean, he's pratically in drag. i think it was this movie that really kick-started my hots for him in the first place. mmm, 'come back for it.'

e is for eli wallach... and eddie izzard

i know i should really give each of these guys their own slots, but i have the strip handy, so... this is a groovy notebook illustration jean-lucien made a long time ago. as old as it is, i still think it scans pretty nicely. lets see now... on the top left is mr. eddie izzard in his role as jerry divine from 'velvet goldmine,' and underneath him is john malkovich as freiderich murnau from the underrated and hilarious 'shadow of the vampire.' and off to the right, on the rockinghorse with the fried chicken in his mouth is the carnal eli wallach in his role as silva vacarro in elia kazan's 'babydoll.' its amazing, these little works of art jean-lucien comes out with. most of them are no bigger than a cigarette lighter or a stick of gum when he scans the originals from his notebook pages. that being said, they blow up pretty good. really groovy stuff. and i can't praise 'babydoll' enough. dig it. honeybook

here's an example of one of our handwritten notebooks i wrote and decorated myself. and i freely admit, this shows all the signs of not knowing when to stop. i really didn't need the overhead collage banner or the faceted pink square georgina cabochon. all the rest alone would have been plenty. and the title was-is splendid enough. the main image is the lovely darling miss georgina hale as alma mahler from the ken russell film 'mahler.' but i just got carried away with the sugar-shaker, so to speak. still, i wanted to show it to you. it still beats the hell out of all those handwritten journals with plain 'no frills' covers. which i don't understand. i mean, even if its just for your physics notes or sketchy poems, why not slap a groovy picture on it? i mean, you're going to have to look at it. and a groovy notebook is also a great conversation starter, whether you're in the market for that sort of thing or not. in any case, dig it, this notebook of mine, which is at least a year or more old. click to enlarge, it gets really big... maybe too big... ( if there is such a thing. )

valmont

hey, who doesn't love john malkovich as valmont? girls, are you with me on this one? you know you love his fancy, slinky, manipulative, cold-hearted ways. if i was like, more awake, he'd probably get a much finer verbal tribute from me. hey, i'm not gonna lie, although i do love my darling cake-like valmont, i'm kind of posting stuff tonight until my p.m. 'anti-crazy' pills kick in and i feel like actually going to bed. but hey, valmont would probably consider it a very fitting tribute that just the sight of him makes me want to go to bed. the only thing that was missing from his portrayal of valmont was an explicit masturbation sequence or a man-on-man make-out sequence... and maybe one other kind of scene, but i'm not going to get into that here.

easy

here's another slice of notebook art. i know its not the best scan in the world, but what the hell. that's john malkovich from 'the shadow of the vampire' on the left, and eddie izzard from 'blueberry' on the right. the pink foil star actually shows up, which is surprising considering the equipment i was working with. man, that seems like a long time ago. that was three rooms ago. still, its a hell of a lot more groovy than journaling and composing on blank white paper... which i can't believe people do without going crazy.

o johnny

two johns, take your pick! hey, i think i want the one on the left... the one on the right seems like he might be bitchy and sometimes hard to get along with. then again, the one on the left looks like he could be a little vain and heartless.
the lady or the tiger...? only which is the lady and which is the tiger...?
