beautiful eleanor bron

yes, everyone who's followed 'the planet' for any length of time has probably noticed my wild admiration of actress eleanor bron. it's very difficult to find pictures of the dark and gorgeous miss bron on the crazy internet, so when i find a nice one, i just have to snag it. this is a shot from some movie she made in the late 60's. forgive me for not looking up all the details right now, as its late, and i have to get up early in the morning. but wow, she's spectacular. her talent and beauty is matched by her glassy, deep, expressive voice. she is also one who can enjoy the sometimes-title of 'the fifth beatle.' she was the exotic ahme in 'help!,' and was apparently quite close to the lads in the band. so here's to you, once again, miss bron... we love you, yeah, yeah, yeah! the bronstress

yes, i know this picture's on the small side, but i wanted to post it anyway. there are so few available pictures of the lovely and legendary miss eleanor bron out there, so i try to make it a 'planet priority' to post any and all decent shots of the goddess i can get my hands on. i mean, wow... i don't know too many chicks out there that have touched all four of the beatles, oliver reed, ken russell, glenda jackson, alan bates, neil innes, dudley moore, peter cook, and probably more than one of the pythons. so yeah, any time i run across an opportunity to give a celebratory shout out to miss bron, i go for it. plus, she's a fox! hey eleanor, call me!

bron and john

yes, this picture may be small, but its 'big' where 'beatle coolness' is concerned. here we see the young mr. john winston lennon, on the set of the richard lester coloriffic musical 'help!' he's in good company. the foxy brunette broad with him is none other than the fabulous and criminally underrated miss eleanor bron, in costume for her part as the mystic-eastern dollface, ahme. yeah, she follows them around and tries to bite the ring off richard's finger and all that stuff. but, as you well know, she is not what she seems. very early in the movie, she changes sides and tries to keep 'the bad guys' from getting the magic, big, red, gaudy, cheap-looking lollipop ring. so here's to you, miss eleanor bron. oh, and here's to john 'peace child' lennon, too.

e is for eleanor bron

how can i talk about eleanor bron without sounding totally 'lesbo?' oh well, i'll guess i'll risk it. she's so dark, so beautiful. she is the english actress who starred alongside the beatles in their first color feature 'help!' as ahme, the eastern turncoat who undermined her own customs to protect the lives of the fab four (and specifically ringo) from a pagan execution. she also turned in dazzling perfomances in such films as 'bedazzaled,' (the original 'bedazzled,' where she played margaret spencer, the object of dudley moore's affection) and in ken russell's 'women in love,' wherein she shamelessly stole scenes as the melodramatic and theatrical hermoine. in more recent years, she killed it, i mean she shredded it, the scenery, in the 1995 production of 'a little princess,' directed by alfonso cuaron. she played the shrewish and cruel (and beautiful) headmistress miss minchin. and on the 'beatle trivia' angle, it is reported that she was the one paul mccartney had in mind when he wrote 'eleanor rigby.' (i didn't make that up.) ahhh, eleanor... why won't you publish your memoirs? the stories you could tell...

gentlemen prefer bron

...eleanor bron! this picture proves my point. center in this flowering of british male genius is the lucky miss bron herself. if you look closely, you can see john cleese, terry jones, michael palin, peter cook, possibly keith moon...? and i think that might even be neil innes like, clockwise; third guy from the top. i think i recognize his eyebrows. i don't see george harrison present, so he (or dudley moore) must be the one taking the picture. wow, i wish she'd write her memoirs... i'll bet she has some stories to tell. she looks like she's having a great time. and who can blame her?

eleanor

mmm, sweet dark mysterious eleanor bron. you most likely know her as the far-eastern playful Ahme in the beatles 'help,' but she's shown herself in so much more. in her solid career she's starred alongside the likes of dudley moore in the original 'bedazzled,' and was a brazen scene-stealer in ken russell's 'women in love.' i cannot think of her without imagining violets. although never represented as such, to me she is one of the great bombshell sex symbols of the last 50 years. everything from her lilting seashell voice to her arcing heavy brow and fine white skin...i cannot watch her without sighing. even as the screwish mrs. minchin in the recent 'a little princess,' she had my sympathy and deepest masochistic affection. she is an unsung master of her Art. eleanor, the stories you could tell... sigh.
