square

...81 powis square, to be exact. this is a lovely shot apparently taken during the filiming of the 1970 donald cammell-nicholas roeg bohemian masterpiece
'performance.' i loved this film even before i saw it, if that's even possible. and, after dozens and dozens of viewings, i still love it, and rank it very high on my list of 'absolute musts.' here we have mick jagger as reclusive ex-pop idol 'turner purple,' lying atop his scandanavian ladyfriend, miss pherba. pherba is played by the sexy and mysterious anita pallenberg. actually, sitting here thinking about it, her character, (and her performance of that character) is far more pivotal to the story than it seems when one watches it. i mean, she's the one who lets chaz in in the first place. she's lovely, and she's blonde, and she seems a little cloudy, but she's no fool. she keenly sees into chaz's 'game' almost before turner does. i love pherba... i love that damn movie. i love this shot. and i love all of you. sigh... sweet susan

umm, where do i start? i think this shot speaks for itself. lets see... we've got the beautiful susan sarandon, and she's got her blouse wide open. this shot was, of course, taken from the controversial 1978 louis malle film 'pretty baby.' susan plays a prostitute, and mother to a very young and beautiful brooke sheilds. (hey, who besides me is amazed THAT girl turned out alright?) i've tried to 'seriously' watch that movie several times, but... i hate to say this... for all that film has going for it, its 'pretty boring.' i mean, everything looks gorgeous. the clothes, the girls, the music, the lush cinematography... and most of the cast, (including brooke) are excellent. but somehow, it always leaves me with a big ho-hum. i also remember it was super-scandalous when it was released. but i remember watching it as a small girl when it finally reached HBO, and i remember thinking to myself, even at that young age; '...this is what people were so upset about?' but hey, this post is about pretty miss susan. and i'm taking the chance of posting the outright 'full frontal' shot of the Suze, in hopes people will realize the overexposed nature of the lighting obscures much of the 'breastial' detail. dig it.

happy birthday julian

yes, january 24th is the 51st birthday of the cute piano genius, mr. julian miles holland. i was deeply in love with julian a while back. and hey, he still has a cool place in my heart. a place for lovely snow-white-complected short guys who play expert piano. i'm sure i've mentioned it before, but i've had a crush on jools since the first time i saw him as the musical spot in an episode of 'the young ones,' way back in 1985. he was slimly masquerading as 'ken bishop's nice tweleve,' a band which included stewart copeland and chris difford. they did a version of dylan's 'subterranean homesick blues' on the show 'cash' in 'the young ones' second season. then i saw him as a host on imported segments from the english music show 'the tube.' this collage was made by jean-lucien a long time ago. the shot of jools and his lovely profile was captured by me from a clip of an old 'squeeze' concert. i don't think i've posted this one before, so dig it.

a little valmont never hurt anybody

...well, unless you're one of the two chicks in the movie who he like, screws around with and like, does the emotional equivalent of 'leaving them for dead.' so, man... i've had like, zero-bust ideas for anything to post lately. so, not unlike last night's 'ann-margret cleavage,' i figured i couldn't go wrong with a great screen capture of malkovich in his sexy, sexy 'ribbon-and-wrist-array' rags. i just had the disc in a little while ago, and took a couple of fast shots. not a lot of planning involved, just point-and-shoot kind of stuff. so girls and guys, enjoy this creamy strawberry-scented profile of the man, the man who knows how to break your heart. but you know he makes it... ungh-ungh! ...hurt so good.

great dress

hey, its not really that i'm all that tired tonight, i just don't have a lot of material that's like, 'post-worthy.' i mean, sure, i could always post another hot picture of joe strummer and talk about how great he is... and i might do that in the future, but i have to remember not all of the general public is as crazy about him as i am. but i think there's one thing we can all agree on; and that is that ann-margret has top shelf A+ cleavage. so here's a shot from the 70's i found. love the dress. i love the tight cinched, laced-up waist, and the keyhole top that gives us a groovy glimpse of her 'goods.' and i like that slightly fretful 'damsel in distress' expression on her face. she really digs those false eyelashes. so um, until i can stockpile more groovy pics, this shot of ann will have to be enough for now.

sink your teeth in

...to this crappy-seeming 12" from the never-heard-of-them band 'hot blood,' and their ...hit? 'disco dracula.' actually, i've heard this record. and, no vampiric pun intended, but it really really 'sucked.' their used to be a video for the song on the youtube, but i think its since been taken down. it was just your very ultra-basic european idea of what american disco was like. the video had a lot of slinky girls in long silky dresses that looked like nightgowns... but apart from that, i don't really remember anything about it. but i thought some of you out there might get a kick out the hilarious record sleeve. its 'bloody' terrific! in a very 'sucky' way!

boy ass

yes, i'm tired tonight, and who benefits from my fatigue? you do! because, if i wasn't so weary, and had less of a 'what the eff...?' attitude, i might think better about posting a gem like this! as we can see, its a relatively recent shot of the 'tumblin'-karma' boy himself, mr. boy george o'dowd. and as you can see, he and his tacky, ill-advised make-up job and 'look,' are giving a symbolic 'lik-lik-lik' to some cushy and anonymous 'clubbing' boy-ass. you know the most hilarious thing about this picture? i actually found it on the naked-ass-guy's website, not boy george's. apparently, 'butt-boy' is some kind of underground club star, and his 'gig' is showing his ass in celebrated places and taking pictures of the 'two-cheeked' proof, which he subsequently posts on his own website. and, i've been sitting (no pun intended) on this picture for so long i can't remember the name of the guy who's website it was. but then again, if he was very concerned about 'being known,' then he'd show something on his website besides his ken doll 'b-sides.' (click to enlarge... if by some wild stretch of the imagination you may want to.)

very recent steven

this is the newest picture of our darling morrissey i've seen lately. i know he's got a new record coming out... what's it called? oh yes, the very morrissey-sounding 'years of refusal.' i've heard a couple of tracks so far, and i like it. he's still 'got it,' and he still looks good. i'm so tired i guess i'm not being as eloquent on his behalf as he deserves, but he's gonna have to live with it. i'm beat. but i like the album cover, which i'm not posting because i don't have a real good image of it yet. but this picture is supposedly very recent. and, as i said, he's still got those serious, older-man, hot good looks that i dig on him. hey, he's all grown up now... he's not the lilting 80's morrissey anymore. (mmm, newsflash) i hope i can post at least one more thing tonight. but, if this is it, then dig it, hot moz. and hey, he's wearing a steve mcqueen t-shirt. like, how cool is that?

aawwwghh...!

yes, i featured an actually very groovy picture disc last night... and in like, celebrating it, i mentioned a sorta- wrong-looking picture disc for the stage production of the 'rocky horror show.' and here it is. the b-side, anyway. but the b-side is probably the better example... check out that wild crazy 'sweet transvestite' face tim curry is pulling! i guess it should be stated that he (tim curry) IS wearing stage make-up. it was for the new york, and not the london production. if i remember correctly the 'london' vynil i had 'back in the day' was very like, spare-bones. i think it only had two-thirds of the songs, and the cover was like, a big 'rubber stamp'-fied image of frank on a black background and some blood-dripping words. but i'm pretty sure this was the new york 'roxy' version. (someone please correct me if i'm wrong.) i'm gonna go ahead and say, 'click to enlarge,' only i don't know why you'd wanna make this whacko image any bigger than it already is. nightmare fuel. and you'll have to forgive the contrast. it was hard as hell to 'trick,' with all that dark on such a bright white background. (well, it was more 'pink-white' before i had to shock most of the color out of it.) but hey, dig it... this is exactly what it looked like. and i owned it! (hey, i guess i still DO own it.) and um, hey... 'don't dream it, BE it,' as the movie's theme says.

shhhh...!

hey, i'm up late doing a lot of 'secre-
tarial' work... that consists of cleaning out old images from files,
deleting videos no longer available on the big bad miraculous youtube... and like, organizing my desktop and a lot of stuff that's necessary, but not so thrilling. but i wanted to post something to mark the day, so i found this groovy picture disc for david bowie's hit 'china girl.' i do like the song. if i'm not mistaken, i think iggy pop is the slinky dude that actually wrote it. (mmm, give me bowie's version any day.) so yeah, i remember picture discs. i think the only one i owned was for the new york stage production of 'the rocky horror picture show.' it was like, a big disc with frank posing in weird makeup. ( i should really try to find of shot of that and post it; it was pretty ugly, but 'cool-to-own.') i think picture discs are like, very high on the list of 80's pop band gimmickry. like, did anyone actually try to play one? i think i might have, but i don't have a real clear memory of it. so dig this groovy disc... and i'll try to hit you lovers again soon.

leia captured

here is another photographic experiment i tried when i had 'a new hope' rolling. i just got my camera right up on the screen and started shooting. as i've said before, i like the silky fine grain to the edges. hey, she's part of a diplomatic mission to aalderan. but darth thinks she's '...part of the rebel alliance, and a traitor.' and then, there's that scene where that floating robot dude comes into her cell with a big fat syringe of red liquid ready to stab and fill her veins with... well, apparently something that doesn't cloud her judgement too much. i mean, she springs right up and bolts out the door, quite energetically, once luke skywalker gets there. hey, maybe the robot gave her 'uppers.' who knows? but still, dig on this big silky shot of the princess i got.

kryptonite perfume

yes, its green, its liquid, its not too expensive... and i'm not sure i have any memory of what it smells like. yes, this is an ad for the 'tres-classe' emeraude... by coty. and to this day, i'm not sure what 'by coty' is supposed to make me feel; like, advertising-wise. i mean, names go cheap in the 'fragrance game.' i mean, even faberge lent his name to the horrendous 'brut.' straight up; i can't remember ever smelling 'emeraude,' but i have a feeling i probably did at one point. like, there was a time when i was like, ten years old, that i would heedlessly sniff from any atomizer left out on the eckerd's or rite-aid countertop. still, i couldn't tell you what 'emeraude' smelled like if my life depended on it. all i know is it was green, and it wasn't in my house. the only green fragrant stuff in our house was my stepfather's old scent-staple 'skin bracer.' i have to admit, to this day, i kind of like the smell. maybe because it reminds me of my daddy. but 'emeraude?' i'm drawing a big sensory blank on that one. i like the ad, though... ga-roovy.

disco sucks...

...except when it doesn't. yes, people can 'bag on' disco all they want, but i say what i always say about almost any genre of music: 75% of it truly does suck, but there's that 25% that does not. and, when we're talking about disco, and blondie, then i have to say we're talking about that wonderful, electric, delicious 25%... that does not... suck, that is. in fact, the first time i was handed a quarter and directed towards the jukebox at the smalltown 'pepe's pizza,' i selected a blondie track. 'heart of glass,' i think it was. (not to be confused with the first 45 single i ever bought with my own money... i'm proud to say that was the very legit and intelligent 'genius of love' by the tom tom club.) yes, disco... i have no shame in admitting i dig some disco. i was raised on it. it wasn't all i heard, fortunately my stepfather had a wide range of tastes, so i heard a little bit of a lot of things... and my mother made sure i knew about nat king cole and ricky nelson. so, most of the 'disco' i was exposed to was via my big bad american television set... 'dance fever,' 'american bandstand,' movies on cinemax, ('can't stop the music') ...that sort of thing. so... here's to all the 'good' disco. amen.
