dora's night off

nothing new tonight, lovers. i'll be back soon. kisses.

lee

i was trying to think of an image... a persona, that would seem appropriate to match the jangling, loose, wild genius sonic patchwork of captain beefheart and his magick band. i chose miss lee remick... she has knowledge of the devil... the mark of kazan, and the dreamlike measured standard of sondheim. in short, she's got blood, she's got razor wire, finesse, and the enamaled certainty of practiced talent.

captain beefheart and his magic band : 'i'm gonna boolgarize ya' - video

here's a wild and duly frightening piece of sound from the one and only don van vliet. (and his band.) the captain is the big bad wolf. i'm willing to take my chances. i am not afraid of ugliness; only scrutiny, irrationality, and insecurity gives me pause.

basic beatles

i might as well sign off tonight with the basic beatles.

good-night, and here comes the sun.

george harrison : any road - video

i love this song. i love the video. i love george. amen.

warm wave

ahhh, why the hell not... i'm getting sleepy, so here's a cherry-lipped screen capture of the tambourine man of the monkees, miss davy jones, attempting to be cute and witty in his lemon-colored sweater. i think davy was underestimated when it came to being just straight-up funny. i know he made me laugh just as often as the group's 'official' funnyman, mr. micky dolenz. i think davy was a cute scream like, nearly all the time. so dig on him, and dig up some monkees to dig on, too. and god bless davy jones.

perfectly frank

i've been watching the 80's movie 'clue' a lot lately. i suppose i should be embarassed that i know it by heart, but i'm not. i really don't care. but because of that, i figured it was cool to feature a shot of the mulit-talented mr. tim curry, all dolled-up as dr. frank-n-furter from the stage production of 'the rocky horror show.' i wonder someone will try to remake that movie. hey, maybe tim burton should do it... i mean, why the hell not? don't tell me people wouldn't line up in droves to see johnny depp up on 'the big screen' in complete and total drag... oh, wait... they already have. i almost forgot about willy wonka.

reflected

i'm not sure how old jools holland was when this picture was taken. what a cute little talented duckling he is. i think this was taken sometime in his earlier 'squeeze' days. i like him because i get the feeling he finds himself rather beautiful. such fine skin, such quick fingers. what a curious voice. such nice lips. mmm, my 'thing' for short guys flares up hot just thinking about him. i'm not sure why i have such a fetish for shorter guys. perhaps it's because the biggest jerk i ever went out with was like, 6 foot 5. all i know is i have some sort of attraction between 5' and 5' 6''. i'm pretty sure ian holm squeezes in there nicely. i think tim curry comes pretty close. bob hoskins? i'm not sure... i've never like, sought out that information.

good witch bad witch

...all of them witches. i wasn't really thinking about witches when i assmebled this piece over ten years ago. i wasn't really thinking about it meaning anything. back then, i had to work with the scraps i had. i couldn't alter color or size or sharpness or anything. but still, i think i got a nice result. i suppose the lilian gish and julie andrews above could be like good witches of the north, opposed to the unscrupulous guy woodhouse at the bottom, with a pair of hungry bisexual wenches somewhere in between. i'm not sure why i included jfk up there, unless he was supposed to represent conscience or whatever. but i totally don't think i was thinking of that in any kind of concrete way. i think i just needed or wanted a splash of purple. click to enlarge.

valmont

hey, who doesn't love john malkovich as valmont? girls, are you with me on this one? you know you love his fancy, slinky, manipulative, cold-hearted ways. if i was like, more awake, he'd probably get a much finer verbal tribute from me. hey, i'm not gonna lie, although i do love my darling cake-like valmont, i'm kind of posting stuff tonight until my p.m. 'anti-crazy' pills kick in and i feel like actually going to bed. but hey, valmont would probably consider it a very fitting tribute that just the sight of him makes me want to go to bed. the only thing that was missing from his portrayal of valmont was an explicit masturbation sequence or a man-on-man make-out sequence... and maybe one other kind of scene, but i'm not going to get into that here.

venus and mars

what a picture... what a couple of mad geniuses these two are. that's ann-margret on the left, looking very ...ahuh, smashing, if you'll pardon the pun, and the wild master himself, mr. ken russell on the right. this was taken some time during the filming of the great rock opera 'tommy.' if you've ever seen the movie, then you know what happens to that all-white room they're posing in. i often wondered if they filmed 'the scene' last, or if there was perhaps more than one white set built. because i seriously doubt they let ann and the chocolate and beans and suds have one take, then went through the trouble of cleaning everything up. this picture struck me because i've never seen it before, even though i've seen the movie more times than i can count. i wish i could remember where i found it, but sadly i don't.

tuesday

i'm took a couple of nights off. more soon...

jeeves

i was going through some old files and found this silky shot i managed to snatch of the creamy mr. stephen fry as the nearly infallible jeeves. i don't have any idea which episode this was from, but i thought my tricking with the contrast and everything made for a stark, dreamy portrait. plus, i just like looking at him.

bed and bertie

yes, the sexy hugh laurie as bertie wooster. i don't even remember what was going on in this episode... he was most likely trying to get out of an arranged marriage. but i like this screen shot i captured of him on a bed in some kind of english inn. i gotta be honest, i just want to pin him down on that little bed, climb on top of him, and tear all his clothes off. i was in a local store with my friend belinda today... and as we were checking out, i noticed hugh-laurie-as-dr. house was on the cover of some celebrity magazine... he looked so hot i almost forgot to get my change. i'm not kidding.

fist

here's a gleaming still of my darling ian holm as father vito cornelius from the inventive and well-paced sci-fi flick, 'the fifth element.' the entire movie is actually really pretty good, and the whole cast is very game and 100% 'into it,' but i daresay ian steals every scene he's in. he brings an almost shakespearean level of excellence to the whole production. honestly, you take out ian's performace, and instantly, the whole thing starts to look like a big, gaudy joke. then again, i am incredibly biased, on account of i'm in love with him.

call girl

here's a lovely punch-flavored slice of notebook art jean-lucien made a long time ago. the girl is maria schneider from 'the last tango in paris.' and i don't think it really 'means' anything, its just supposed to be pretty. and it is. man, who makes the most dazzling notebook art...? we make the most dazzling notebook art! so dig it, its the best, man.

playing it cool

yes, the devious and gorgeous science officer ash listens, his face inscrutible, as kane relates his '...horrible dream about...smothering.' kane drinks a few cups of water, ash drinks endless cups of milk. i don't have too much poetic to say about this shot, other than this entire movie has me by the 'cult' throat, and won't let go. hey, you wanna hear something really 'fan' ridiculous? my friend belinda brought me over an assortment of scented candles to choose from as a housewarming gifts, and i secretly chose the one i imagined ash's cologne smells like. yeah, i'm totally insane. insane-in-love with ian holm, that is.

coy steven

morrissey just wanted to drop by and look handsome for us. dig that coy, cute smile. this picture is no more than two years old, i don't think. i had a nice easy day, and i'm in a nice, easy mood. there's not much i really have to say about this shot, i just wanted to mark my place in here tonight and kiss everyone. i had my first chinese food in my new place today; pork fried rice and egg drop soup. i'm just glad there's at least one decent chinese place in this wonderful tiny little town. not really doing much now... just half-watching saturday night live, and listening to the smiths track, 'oscillate wildly,' which i think may be their only instrumental. such wonderful stuff. okay, let me see what else i can post before my self-set bedtime of 1:30.
