at first glance, one might think this is like, photoshopped or faked in some way, but i am here to assure you; it is very real. this is a shot of morrissey ( center ) about a year ago, with his band. annnd it probably goes without saying that they are very highly nude, save for the strategically placed 45's. ( and i'm still trying to figure out exactly how they're attached. ) personally, i think morrissey's bod looks pretty damn good. then again' he hasn't had meat in like, 50 years. and in case anyone is interested, the last 15 years of his work has been some of the best. and he's clearly not shy about strippin' for the camera lenz. i used to know all these blokes names, but i can only remember three of them now. from left to right we've got jesse... wow, i just blanked on jesse's last name. tobias! jesse tobias. then we've got mr. paleskin, who's name i used to know. then morrissey, of course, then boz borer, then matt walker. i've gotta hand it to these guys for 'lettin' it all hang out.'

morrissey

it just came to my attention earlier this evening that morrissey collapsed and went unconscious last night during a show in Swindon, UK. he was reportedly unresponsive as members of his band pulled him off stage. the last i heard, he was awake, alert, and in an English hospital... apparently it was a case of 'exhaustion.' i can hardly be surprised. the man is 50 years old, and although he only eats vegetables and is in excellent health, he does work very hard. he's almost always on the road, playing live... or on a television show, or at a rock festival somewhere, or he's recording, or doing press-related stuff. so i just wanted to say that i love him, and i hope he's feeling better soon. maybe he needs to get laid and eat a steak-for-the-protein. i wanted to post a picture of him, so here's the most recent one i could find. like, its from this month, i think. he looks great. sexy-and-great. hey, morrissey... don't work so hard, okay? (i know, easier said than done.) sincerely, i hope you're back on stage soon. because i know you love to do it. peace.

testing

hey, i just went through all the weird steps to update my browser, and now i'm just going around, testing all my most-used applications to make sure everything's online. so, as a test, just wanted to post this great freeze frame of morrissey, that i took a long time ago. its from his gorgeous 'who put the m in manchester?' live dvd. so um, dig it... he's so lovely. kisses to you all. muah! blue jewel

mmm, i love leaving some of my old books with jean-luc. because, when he has time, he lovingly scans in and uploads some of my better past notebook illustrations. i'm not sure what the date on this one would be... but i remember i was in the upstairs bedroom in the main house when i made it, which means it's at least two years old. and, apart from it being a little bit 'cleaned-up' after it had been scanned, jean-luc really didn't alter it very much at all. he does such a wonderful job. it makes it effortless for me to trust his talent and judgement. its quite a bit larger and more complicated than my decorations these days... life changes and time constraints and other things factor in to dictate how much time (and ink...!) i can spend on each page. (hey, in these 'tight times,' i've found myself cutting back on even the volume of f***ing ink i lay down. its like, the 'oil of the old west' in my artistic world... if that makes any sense.) so um, techincal points aside, let's see what we have here. yes, the background is a negative image of a detail of a gustav klimt painting. the rounded tiles depict: morrissey, in a freeze-frame from his marvelous 'who put the m in manchester?' dvd, then a screen shot of georgina hale from ken russell's masterpiece 'mahler,' annnd one more shot of morrissey dressed as a priest, because i was in love with him at the time and figured like, two morrisseys are better than one. i'm glad such an old image scanned so well. oh, and the half-face beside the first morrissey is none other than ronan vibert. (and i apologize profusely for the use of yellow. it is probably my least favorite color. seriously, yellow is sooo square.) (...and click to enlarge)

hot new single

so, um...wow. where do i start? i was just about to hit the sack, (no pun intended) but i figured i might as well check the morrissey homepage for anything possibly interesting... and i found this! apparently its the back of the sleeve of some cd or single for some new song or something, i don't know... i didn't read too much of the caption, if there was one. honestly, i didn't get past the picture. hey, boys... is that the 7 inch?? woof...! like, how soon is 'now,' ...now being when you drop the discs and show us all what's up... or at least maybe like, half up. god, morrissey once again proves he's no where near as shy and lilting as people might've thought he was in the 80's. man, he looks more than hunky-and-alright to me. i mean, he's almost 50. man, i just wanna like, take a bite, you know? and i think its a scream that he's buck naked in front of a camera with a vynil 45 on his dick, and he seems to be thinking like, '...does my hair look alright?' man, i can only imagine what a huge scandalous deal it would've been in the MTV 1980's if like, duran duran had let themselves be photographed like this. i mean, it would've been insane international news... but in good ol' 2009, like, less than absolutely nobody cares. and hey, the other lads don't look so bad, either. let's see, for those of you who don't know the boys already, we've got, naked, left-to-right, the exotic and brooding guitarist, jesse tobias, then we've got the only bloke i don't know already, some bloke named solomon walker... (probably some relation to matt walker...? maybe? ) who apparently plays bass. then we've got the glorious boy from manchester himself, morrissey, and after him, we have the great guitarist boz boorer... the intense gent with 'a little something extra,' bod-wise. and at the end of the line, last but not least, we have the spot-on drummer boy, matt walker... whose 45 seems to be hanging dangerous close to... the area. hey, slashfickers, start your engines, there should be enough fuel here to last you until the 4th of july. oh hey... while we're at it, we might as well have a horserace. i'm gonna make it a tie. a tie between morrissey, just because i love him, and he does look really great, and umm, the new guy? yeah, that solomon walker has it 'goin' on.' (man, i don't say that.) so, i hope all of you out there enjoy this shot as much as i do... i mean, with all the creamy scrumptious ladies i've been posting lately, its nice to know my 'straight lobe' is still very much alive and doing its job.) click to (slightly...?) enlarge.

young steven

hey, i wanted a black and white shot, and i ran accross this older shot of morrissey in my archives. its obviously from 'the smiths' era. and anyone that knows me, knows i think he's much sexier with a few more years and a few more pounds on him, still... i think this shot is particularly lovely. it looks like he got his hair cut like, seventeen minutes before the picture was taken. i'm sure i probably cropped out johnny marr. i always try to crop out johnny marr when at all possible. wow, he was so young. so ummm, dig the youthful coolness of his face, and do yourself a favor and dig up some old smiths tracks. i think you'll be pleasantly surprised. their stuff sounds even better and more original and cool to me now than it did 20 years ago. they really did know how to play. and nobody sounded like them. sometimes i have to remind myself that it was only three instruments and a voice. good stuff. damn good.

very recent steven

this is the newest picture of our darling morrissey i've seen lately. i know he's got a new record coming out... what's it called? oh yes, the very morrissey-sounding 'years of refusal.' i've heard a couple of tracks so far, and i like it. he's still 'got it,' and he still looks good. i'm so tired i guess i'm not being as eloquent on his behalf as he deserves, but he's gonna have to live with it. i'm beat. but i like the album cover, which i'm not posting because i don't have a real good image of it yet. but this picture is supposedly very recent. and, as i said, he's still got those serious, older-man, hot good looks that i dig on him. hey, he's all grown up now... he's not the lilting 80's morrissey anymore. (mmm, newsflash) i hope i can post at least one more thing tonight. but, if this is it, then dig it, hot moz. and hey, he's wearing a steve mcqueen t-shirt. like, how cool is that?

esteban stamps

i've spent most of the night pearldiving, so i don't have much for you tonight. but i wanted to take a minute to post a placeholder. so here it is... they are. dig on some shots of a 'maladjusted' era morrissey, with his hair closely shorn. personally, i think it was a really good look on him. if you have the time, dig up anything you can from that album. its extremely underrated; even for a morrissey album. notable tracks are 'roy's keen' and 'satan has rejected my soul.' (its farrrr more 'upbeat' than it sounds, trust me.) so please dig on steven's keen look, and seek out some morrissey to feed-your-ears. i love you all. (click to enlarge)

steven stripped

its been a long time since i looked for anything having to do with sweet morrissey. don't get me wrong, i've never fallen out of love with him, but hey... you know how it is, other crushes present themselves, songs move in and out of rotation, sometimes even the truest of loves fall deeper and deeper into the electronic shuffle. well, tonight i went looking for recent shots of morrissey, and i found this. i can see its very recent. and there's one somewhat odd thing i've learned about morrissey: the more 'filled-out' he becomes in the torso-and-chest area, the more he takes his shirt off. so hey... here he is, stripped for our popstar enjoyment. and i for one say, '...thank you.' granted, i am NOT a fan of 'ripped' midsections and so-called 'washboard' abs... never have been. it leaves me 'ken doll' cold. so i guess its not a big surprise that i think steven here looks delicious. i just wanna like, bite it, you know? and its cool with me if you don't agree... like, that just leaves more for 'yours truly!' stolen

here's the cover of the next-to-most-recent book i wrote. its called 'stolen,' because i was stuck for a fresh book... i happened to have one jean-lucien started, but never wrote it. he'd done the whole cover and everything, but then never used it. so i took it, glued a few more scraps on the cover, and titled it. it's a vague throwback to that great dead milkmen song... 'punk rock girl.' in the narrative of the song, they get into a car, and the singer asks, '...how much'dyou pay for this? ...she said, 'nothin' man, its stolen...'' i've always liked that song. and i sort of feel like i 'stole' 90 percent of jean-lucien's cover. the book's finished now. but i still thought it needed a slot on 'the planet.' the lavender lad on the right of the cover is a lovely shot of a very teenaged morrissey. there's a little bit of blue alphonse mucha in there, too. very pretty.

morrissey on the cover

i started a new notebook tonight. well, i decorated the cover. unfortunately, i'm not able to scan it, so just to commemorate the creative vibe, i'm posting this great large slide jean-lucien used for one of his covers many, many months ago. it features a cool close-up of morrissey on stage, in blue, on the left. he used a still from the 'who put the m in manchester?' dvd. and to the right, we've got michael nesmith, terry jones (in semi-drag) and a dash of john-rhys myers in orange, near the bottom. and i think there's even a little touch of alphonse mucha down there. i think its lush and gorgeous. the one i made tonight is pretty good too. i hope to feature it as soon as i can get to a scanner. ignore at your own risk

mmm, you know what i always say: anytime is the right time for a sexy screen capture of morrissey. (...mm, i don't 'say that.') anyway, here's a shot i took a long time ago from the 'oye esteban' dvd. its from the video for the song 'the more you ignore me, the closer i get.' its not one of my all-time faves by morrissey, but it IS a good one. and he looks very, very, good in the video. he gets a lot of 'face time.' ( i think that's the correct industry term.) so i managed to get this shot... which was tricky, because there's a lot of strobe-ish lighting, and the camera swoops around like a dragonfly. still, its a great picture. it almost makes me want to dig out the dvd... but yeah, i know... why go through all that trouble with the big, bad miraculous YT at my fingertips? (...yes, why indeed.) click to enlarge... it enlarges nicely.

morrissey, so coy

yes, i wanted a little color, and i also wanted a little morrissey. this is a fine example of jean-lucien's video sharpshooting. this shot was taken from the video for the 1995 single 'dangenham dave.' it can be found on the highly recommended 'oye esteban' dvd. at first i didn't think i liked the song, but it grew on me. seriously, about 90% of his solo stuff is excellent. (in my opinion) if you've seen the video, you'll know that this shot was pretty hard to get. in the video, morrissey is walking (rather briskly) through a dimly-lit pub. jean-lucien managed to get one of maybe only three actually usable frames. just perfect. and jean-luc did the 'tricking' too. i just love it. i even used it for one of my few full-color notebook covers. i love the coy look on his face. and the grain is just silky and gorgeous. so dig his hot face, and if you happen across the video, dig on that, too. art in red

here's a cool slice of notebook art i just dug up from my archives. jean-lucien sent it to me a long time ago. from left to right we have the red-tricked shot of georgina hale as alma mahler from ken russell's 'mahler,' then a slice of morrissey from the 'dagenham dave' video, then an unknown elongated female shadow. i love it. it has a dazzling stained glass effect. just gorgeous. and no, i don't think it 'means' anything... its just beautiful for art's sake. morrissey in profile

i really should post more shots of my darling morrissey. here's a screen capture i took from my 'who put the m in manchester?' dvd. it was originally in color, but i thought it was more striking in black and white. what a face. what a difference a little bit of age makes. so handsome. in this shot, i think he's singing the amazing, dreamy slow song, 'i'm not sorry.' its a great song. i might post it if i can find this exact version. i don't really have too much to say about this one. he just looks great, and that's more or less the reason it made the cut. so sexy.

patchwork perfect

i seriously hope jean-lucien doesn't mind that i'm posting this one. he made it, about three years ago. using paper as paint, he composed this cool and glorious patchwork of light and color. i loved it then, and i still love it now. he has always had the keenest sense of balance and color harmony. this collage feels pretty to every one of the five senses. i can almost smell and taste it. it has a watercolor-like quality that i absolutely love. not unlike a stained glass window, the light behind it enlivens the arrangement. he's such a genius. its just beautiful. i think it would make a marvelous album cover. and keep in mind, he cuts out and glues everything down by hand before it hits the scanner. what a master. my hero. just gorgeous. depressed? a little bit, yeah

so, real fast to all loved ones. last night my computer snagged a very whorish destructive virus which demolished every last one of my picture and video files, as well as did a lot of other things. i've spent the whole day wrestling with an effing machine. after about ten hours, i finally got it back on line, only to get interrupted by an impossible-to-get-past offer to buy virus protection!! so i finally got it back up again, but expect to be cut off any moment now. so, here's the only picture i have right now. its morrissey, and his pissed-off face speaks of my pain. i hope to remedy things and come back in full force soon, but until i do,
just keep in mind i'm going to have very limited access to my mail, this blog, etc. and hey, lucynell... i think
your phone number went down with the ship, so over the next few days, either leave it with jean-lucien, or
call me between 10 am and 10 pm to remind me. arrrghhh! high tech bites me in the ass! if i can manage to before it crashes again, i'll post some more. i love you all!

o is for 'okay sign'

...again, i'm kind of stretching this. i have no idea if the young morrissey pictured here was actually making the 'okay' sign with his two slightly-blurred fingers. its a rare shot...if only for the fact that its a 'smiths'-era shot of morrissey, and he appears to be smiling and having an actual light moment. its weird, when i was knocking around back in the genuine 80's, i really didn't find morrissey attractive. i didn't even think he was good-looking. but knowing about him the way i do now, i find younger shots like this quite charming. i mean, being a pop star was the only thing he ever wanted to do. and he did it. he knew he had the talent and the inner fortitude to do it, and he did it. and also, from what i know of the smiths' last days, and of the trials (literally) he endured in becoming a solo artist, i have to admire his iron will, and his unbending attention to his craft. so now, to me, he's very cute. even the high hair seems to suit him. i love you, morrissey. and thank you.

m is for morrissey... smiths-era : shoplifters of the world unite : video
may the five-fingered discount live on.
m is for morrissey - smiths era

i took this shot from my smiths video compilation dvd. i think he's doing the magnificent and haunting song from their 'louder than bombs' cd, 'shoplifters of the world unite.' its such fun to play with that smiths dvd, because like, 90% of the time, the camera's on his face. (mmm, no effing kidding, he's the lead singer.) well, on the disc its clear that he's on some kind of 'solid gold' type show, because the entire band is obviously lip-synching. but he looks great. i like the fact that he dares to wear a smiths t-shirt when he's actively IN the smiths. lets face it, he WAS the smiths. (yeah, johnny marr, whatever.) anyway, i thought this shot came out quite nicely.
