o is for 'okay sign'

...again, i'm kind of stretching this. i have no idea if the young morrissey pictured here was actually making the 'okay' sign with his two slightly-blurred fingers. its a rare shot...if only for the fact that its a 'smiths'-era shot of morrissey, and he appears to be smiling and having an actual light moment. its weird, when i was knocking around back in the genuine 80's, i really didn't find morrissey attractive. i didn't even think he was good-looking. but knowing about him the way i do now, i find younger shots like this quite charming. i mean, being a pop star was the only thing he ever wanted to do. and he did it. he knew he had the talent and the inner fortitude to do it, and he did it. and also, from what i know of the smiths' last days, and of the trials (literally) he endured in becoming a solo artist, i have to admire his iron will, and his unbending attention to his craft. so now, to me, he's very cute. even the high hair seems to suit him. i love you, morrissey. and thank you.

m is for morrissey - smiths era

i took this shot from my smiths video compilation dvd. i think he's doing the magnificent and haunting song from their 'louder than bombs' cd, 'shoplifters of the world unite.' its such fun to play with that smiths dvd, because like, 90% of the time, the camera's on his face. (mmm, no effing kidding, he's the lead singer.) well, on the disc its clear that he's on some kind of 'solid gold' type show, because the entire band is obviously lip-synching. but he looks great. i like the fact that he dares to wear a smiths t-shirt when he's actively IN the smiths. lets face it, he WAS the smiths. (yeah, johnny marr, whatever.) anyway, i thought this shot came out quite nicely.

c is for comics

man, i feel kind of blue and tired tonight... but i don't want to leave monday unmarked. so, keeping with my latest crazy alphabet concept, here's a little comic slide jean-lucien sent me some time ago. its an unlikely duet between the charming man morrissey from his smiths days, and the half-in-drag micky dolenz from the very funny first season 'chaperone' episode. if you know the show, then you get the joke. it's hard for me to feel too blue when i dig on it.

lusty

i was playing around with a smiths dvd a long time ago. i was sharp-
shooting images from the 'girl-
friend in a coma' video. i liked his face in this one, so i drained out most of the color, added the sapphire blue tint, messed around a little with the contrast and sharpness, cropped it to my taste, and added the text. what a face. for a man who was, at the time, claiming celibacy, he certainly had lust in his eyes. personally, having experimented with voluntary celibacy, i think its a very rewarding path at times. keep in mind, celibacy does not prohibit climaxes. you can have as many of those as you can handle. well, before i divulge too much personal information, let me post steven and move on.

unite and take over

here's a artistic still frame i managed to nail with one shot. its taken from the highly recommended dvd 'the smiths : the complete picture.' needless to say, its morrissey doing one of my favorites; 'shoplifters of the world unite.' i was lucky enough to see him live in boston around halloween and he played this one... it felt like it was just for me. of course, my wild shoplifting days are over, but morrissey's beauty lives on. (?) after i froze this shot, i cropped it and tricked it to my personal taste. not only is the man a brilliant songwriter and singer, he's also one hell of a model. and although he's a little young for me in these early videos, he's still incredibly beautiful. so dig it... he is, after all, deservedly legendary.

steven take a bow

here's a frame i sharpshot a long time ago from the 'sheila take a bow' video by The Smiths. (for those of you that don't know, Morrissey was their lead singer.) its a marvelously catchy song, and he looks young and pretty and clean in the official video... which was a lip-synched performance on a british tv show. but i still love, and highly recommend the song. and he looks very pretty. personally, i prefer him a little older and heavier with a few lines in his face and a bit of gray on the temples. although very pretty in the earlier Smiths clips, he doesn't seem like he was finished cooking yet.
