rosemary's poster

hey, i'm a girl that digs two things: rare japanese movie posters, and the 1968 roman polanski spooky flick, 'rosemary's baby.' so you know when i saw this poster on a pearldive, you know i had to snag it. i think its actually quite pretty, and i've seen the movie like, more times than i've seen rocky horror, (literally) so it doesn't even give me the genuine creaps anymore. like, i know all the dialogue so well i could easily interact with it. so yeah, i would have this poster in my house. it looks like it would go well in the bathroom with some sea green and pink decorative soaps. very cool.

rosemary's gone mad

again, i have to thank jean-lucien for sending me this. it is, of course, the first panel of the MAD magazine parody of the 1968 roman polanski horror flick, 'rosemary's baby.' i love this movie. i have it on heavy rotation, and i think i know it by heart. this MAD strip was the first exposure i had to this film. it's Mort Drucker at his late 60's best. i love all the fine inkwork, and all the hidden jokes drawn into the background. this scan is actually pretty good. however, i think the john cassavetes illustration is a lot more accurate than the mia farrow. (in this frame, anyway.) man, i don't know what i would've done without vintage MAD's growing up. (click to enlarge.)

witches

here is a still from one of my favorite films, roman polanski's
'rosemary's baby.'
i can't remember a time when i didn't know about this film. and i think its safe to say that my first exposure to it was from the MAD magazine parody by the insanely talented Mort Drucker. i didn't see the film until years later, but Mort and whoever wrote it with him were very astute and dead-on, not only in the artistic rendering, but in a biting take on the subject matter... which i imagine must've caused quite a cultural stir at the time. here are rosemary and guy woodhouse, (john cassavetes and mia farrow) enjoying their first night alone in their new apartment. man, it makes me want to like, roll it, you know?
