jack as baxter

well, its been a week, and i still don't seem to be completely 'over' my crush on an mid-'60's jack lemmon. i probably don't even have to say it, but this is a shot from the academy award winning picture, 'the apartment,' co-starring shirley maclaine. here shirley is, as fran, appointing jack's (baxter's) jacket with a flower from her own lapel. through elevator conversation, she learned he had a big job interview... which could possibly lead to a big promotion. not only does she lend him a flower, she also cares enough to deliver some advice that's far more vital when it comes to making a good first impression... right before the elevator doors slide shut, she instructs him: "...and wipe your nose." if you haven't seen this movie, you owe it to yourself to watch it again. upon several viewings, i realize the content must've been pretty scandalous when it was released in... 1961, i think? i mean, it deals with topics such as adultery, lies, class discrimination, sexism, suicide, sex, and love. notable in the supporting cast? ray walston (...mr. Hand!) as one of the corporate Yes Men.

giggle-wise

i just watched 90% of the billy wilder classic film 'the apartment' on friday night. it may sound corny, but its truly a movie that's got it all. it manages to be serious, hilarious, risque, realistic, raw, ribald, romantic, and even sociologically relevant, all at the same time. it won best picture that year. shirley maclaine is just perfect in the role of fran kubelik. (i have no idea if i spelled that right; screenplay-wise) and jack lemmon is like, multifaceted perfection. it had been so long since the last time i'd seen it, that i had forgotten a lot about the way it ends. its very close to being a faultless film.

man, its late. i don't have anything planned to post, but i wanted to mark my place. so dig it, this hot and sexy picture i found of shirley maclaine in a belly dancing outfit. i'm sure with a little research i could figure out what movie this costume test was for, but i don't feel like digging around for that information right now. you know she's warren beatty's sister. i wonder if they ever made out. i know if either one of them was my sister or brother, i'd have a hard time keeping my hands off them. then again, i'm a twisted freak! sigh... so here's to sassy shirley. i love her untanned complexion. tans are really a turn-off for me, like, 90% of the time.

tonight's featured smoker is the lovely and wildly talented miss shirley maclaine. obviously, this shot was taken some time around the filming of 'irma la douce.' i think she's extremely foxy. and bright. i love her lips and eyelashes and the sound of her voice. apparently she had the savage hots for jack lemmon, and i have to admit, i don't blame her. i'll bet he was great in bed. and out of it. i love a man who can make me laugh, then kiss me like he 'valentino'-means it. and i have a feeling jack lemmon was (is) that kind of guy. and he's even cute in drag. i think i sense a jack lemmon post in the very near future.
