clever
there are two things i love: libraries, and clever boys. this picture nicely illustrates both. from left to right we have the skilled and bright dave gregory, the marvelous and mischeivous andy partridge, and the wise and cool colin moulding. and as if that wasn't clever enough, they're surrounded by books. below, let colin take you to the hop. love to you all. peace.

xtc - life begins at the hop : video
the one and only, often melancholy, genius mr. colin moulding ladies and gentlemen. the picture quality for this one is a little bit overdone and garish, but the sound is clean and good and loud. i love this one. it has an elastic youthful energy behind it. something tells me colin knows how it feels to be wound up on the artificial glee of nicotine and caffiene. (and i fondly suspect other stimulants.) but i love colin. in fact, i've been cheating on andy with colin almost since the three of us met. i always found myself wondering what colin was thinking. as far as andy, well, i always knew what andy was thinking. he doesn't exactly keep it a mystery.

cute suzy
tonight's featured smoker is the one and only miss susan sarandon. from the hair and face, i'd say this was relatively early in her career; i'm guessing post-rocky horror, somewhere around 'king of the gypsies' or maybe even 'atlantic city.' i can't remember a time in my life when i didn't like susan sarandon. in louis malle's 'pretty baby' she sometimes managed to upstage the surreal spectacle of a teenage brooke sheilds. she was wonderful in 'bull durham,' and she managed to lift some scenes in 'witches of eastwick' up to a glory the movie did not deserve. but after all the classics and duds, i still love 'the suze.' nobody else looks or sounds or seems quite like her.
baby night
yes, lately i've been watching the classic and creepy, practically flawless film
'rosemary's baby,'
directed by roman polanski. here's a great screen capture of the naiive-but-not-so-dumb rosemary woodhouse, woozy from the wild effects of minnie's homemade chocolate mouse. i love her 'now' red velour pajama suit, and i love the psychedelic spooky sequence of her unwitting consumation with the devil himself. i was first aware of this movie thanks to Mort Drucker's excellent movie parody in MAD magazine. i can't watch the movie without thinking about frames from the satire. hey, don't get me wrong; its an excellent movie no matter what background information you have. i could go on and on about how good it is, but hey, you know i'd rather just roll it, sit back, and dig...! dig on the diabolical goings-on! if you've never seen it, i give it my wholehearted reccommendation.

pussycat in space
i found this great picture last night. its sigourney weaver as the tough, smart, and sexy ripley. she's third in command of the 'nostromo,' and here she is, experiencing some of what i call 'quality cat time.' my sleeping schedule is all out of whack, so this may be the only thing i post tonight. love.

o father
yes, its father's day. a perfect opportunity to gush over a lovely shot of my darling ian holm as the holy-and- hot father vito cornelius from the wild sci-fi flick 'the fifth element.' yes, father vito has the 'fire' element all taken care of. so hot. and his performance in this film is, in my opinion, underrated. he injects shakespearean caliber acting into this multicolored, broad cinematic venture. he steals every scene he is. hey, don't get me wrong, i actually think bruce willis in underrated in this movie, too. i don't think bruce gets enough 'legit' credit. he never sucks. anyway, where was i? oh yes, dreamy father vito cornelius. happy father's day. amen.
