yes, just because. meaning, you don't ever need a 'reason' to pay tribute to the late and very, very great mr. george harrison. here he is on the set of 'help!,' (freezing in the cold brisk wind, i understand...) contributing his mellow genius number 'i need you.' i think it goes without saying that he looks positively gorgeous. he is, and always has been, my favorite beatle, no contest. he looks fabulous through the whole movie. what a face. what a voice. what a lovely soul he was. and yes, he 'lives on' in his music and film and all that. i think i've mentioned it before, but his album 'all things must pass' was one of the very first records i had on tape. jean-lucien and i played it over and over and over again. we played that tape, literally, until the tape itself began to disintegrate and flake off in tiny black flecks. god bless you george. we miss you.

happy birthday bernadette
yeah, i seem to have a lot of birthdays lately. and tonight is no exception. today is the sultry and sudsy 60th (!!) birthday of the one and only miss bernadette peters! yeah, i know i'm using an older picture, but that's certainly not because she 'looks rough' these days or anything like that. she still looks great. yes, i've always loved the slinky and sassy miss bernadette. and i mean, literally always. i think i must've loved her at 'first sight' when i was a kid. i don't have a clear memory of seeing her for the first time, but i'm guessing it must've been like, on johnny carson or some other kind of variety type show. because i don't remember a time when i didn't know who she was. i know i have an early memory of seeing her in mel brooks' 'silent movie,' but that couldn't have been the first time i saw her, because i know i probably saw that on HBO, and we didn't have HBO until i was about eight? nine? i'm sure she was probably on tv before that. but in any case, i've always loved her, and i still do. nobody looks like her. i mean, can you ever remember a time when you were talking to someone and heard yourself say, '...yeah, that girl from my video store job? she looks just like bernadette peters.' yeah, that never happens. so happy birthday, sexy lady. making sixty o-so-sexy!

happy birthday, you unimaginable bastard
yes, i was just browsing the celebrity birthdays, and i noticed that my devious man billy zane is turning a dark and arrogant 43 years old. yes, i first remember seeing zane in that classic ...cult? suspense film 'deep calm,' with the not-so-famous-yet nicole kidman and the used-to-be-sexy-to-me-before-'jurassic' mr. sam neill. yes, billy zane played the wicked sadistic villain in that one, and his acting chops impressed me then, and i guess i've been a fan ever since. in some roles, like caledon hockley in 'titanic,' he even manages to be darkly humorous, even when playing a rat. he's got some great lines in 'titanic,' too... like, his ironic revelation, '...i put the diamond, in the coat...' (2-3-4) '...and i put the coat on her!!!' okay, so i'm sure that might not be the exact line, but i don't have a copy of the flick right now, so that'll have to do. and like, also that line when rose says like, '...half the people on this boat are going to die,' and cal shoots back with the tycoon-cold, '...not the better half.' of course, he loses his haught a bit when he realizes rose is right, and he tries to sneak his coldhearted ass into one of the lifeboats by snagging a stray urchin, and convinces the boat guy by saying, '...she's all i have in the world.' mmm, he's a slime, but a sublime slime, yes? my ice-cold screen shot is from that line. so happy birthday, you unimaginable bastard, you're turning 43!
ronan and georgina
man, i still feel a little shagged-out from pulling an oscar-related 'all-nighter' last night. so i don't have a whole lot to post. haven't found time to go on a serious pearl-dive recently. plus, i have to cook again on wednesday. i'm thinking about making quesadillas and rice. so um, yeah, just to hold my place i'm posting another little slice of notebook art, from like, at least two years ago. (man, has it been that long?) like, i don't have the specific journal in front of me right now, but if i did, i'm pretty sure the date would be around '06. so um, who do we have here? on the right, its the delightful ronan vibert as wilmot pershaw from his one episode of 'jeeves and wooster.' (the episode is officially called 'jeeves sets sail,' in case anyone is interested.) so, yeah, there's ronan, and some deep fruit-punchy colors... the shot of ronan is from a screen capture jean-lucien took a long time ago. and on the right, is a minaturized scan of one of my journal covers. the main image is georgina hale from 'mahler.' the little phrase was randomly cut out of a science book... maybe about gemstones or something. so dig it, and hopefully i'll have more for you soon. good night
mmm, i don't really have too much energy tonight. and i can barely keep my eyes open for some reason, therefore, this may be the only thing i post. just a cool screen capture of bette davis as margot channing in the multi-oscar winning movie, 'all about eve.' she's so sophisticated and beautiful and crucial in that movie. and that black satin dress with that sexy low back...! and that full bouncy hairstyle! she's the coolest. so, hopefully i'll have more energy tomorrow night. you know i love you all. hey, speaking of the oscars, i kind of forgot it was like, happening tomorrow night, the academy awards. so i guess i'm gonna have to like, psyche up my brain for it. oh well, more soon lovers. kiss.
