chained

here's a very cool still i snapped from morrissey's (highly recommended) concert dvd 'who put the m in manchester?' the man is sexy all over... even the back of his head is sexy. this moment comes just as the band launches into the smith's classic 'rubber ring.' i think the version on the dvd is every bit as good as the original track. in fact, i like it better. it sounds looser, easier, sexier than the earlier release. (and i'm not a huge fan of johnny marr, anyway.) i like this shot because i'm the kind of girl that gets a little fetishistic when she's attracted to someone. once i find someone sexy, every little thing about them ...indeed, even the nape of their neck, has the potential to drive me crazy. and again, i highly recommend the dvd.

thunderstruck

here's a stark stamp i just carved out tonight. i probably don't need to say that its miss bob dylan, around the time when she filmed the rolling thunder revue with the mysterious 'clara.' i love the shot. i'm so into him lately. so dig it, and i should have more for you tomorrow.

renaldo, hard - bob dylan - hard rain : video

here's an excerpt from the film 'renaldo and clara' featuring bob dylan. i love the way he looks.
i often find i don't know how to explain the mystic wide appeal of this shy man with wild tendencies.
i'm wooed so completely by his blatant disregard of polish. and, as if that weren't enough, he comes off as highly intelligent. plus, to an impressive degree, he seems fearless. i just love him.

duet

i sort of consider this a duet between morrissey and alphonse mucha. they are the only two pieces involved. i was sitting in class and just cut out a shot of morrissey with my precision bandage-quality scissors and glued him down on a scrap of a mucha work i already had on hand. the original of this one is a bit smaller than a credit card. its cool how the scanning process adds so much area. that's it. two scraps. that's all it takes.

fast shot

here's an example of what i call a 'blink-and-miss-it' shot of the very groovy michael nesmith and his amethyst-colored shades. if you watch the 'monkees in paris' episode, you'll see how fast this shot is. he's only on screen for literally a little less than 2 seconds. still, i was able to shoot him. after some mild tricking, he came out nicely. so here's to the complicated mr. robert michael nesmith. god bless him.

beaten

a pillowfight. i realize guys out there often fantasize about a gang of giggling girls getting at eachother by hard-flung pillows, thus allowing lots of upskirt pajama possibilities. well, girls like me often like to turn the tables and imagine our favorite pop lads engaging in similar celebrations of good-natured combat. so here's a very slashy shot of the fabulous four flinging the feathers around in a flagrant display of jocund fraternity. who wins this contest, you may ask? well, i believe its george; hands down... he's happily on the bottom, and only seems to be welcoming the oncoming crush of feathers, flesh, and clean cool hotel cottons. i miss pillow fights like this. perhaps i've had my last one... who knows?

o, juliet

wow... i tried to post this last night, but there was that mysterious 'internal server error,' so this birthday wish is a little late. april 17 th was the 57th birthday of the timelessly lovely miss olivia hussey. i have never seen a more beautiful or vibrant juliet. this shot is from the standard-setting 1968 version of the shakespeare romantic tragedy. it was directed by franco zeffirelli, and wowed wide audiences then, with its daring teenage nudity. (her gorgeous ample bust makes her one stacked 13 year old. and yes, the original script indicates the play takes place some time before her 14th birthday.) so, happy birthday olivia. thou art the lovliest juliet yet.

ducky

here's a nice black and white shot i managed to cultivate from a frame of 'jeeves and wooster.' yes, that's the lush and lovely mr. hugh laurie as bertie wooster; up to his neck in hot water as usual. he's just gorgeous. i tried another version in color, but the grain worked better in black and white. and all this is 'pre-HOUSE.' like, i've been in love with hugh since some time around 1988.

wonder twin powers activate- the breeders : cannonball - video

here's one of the most infectuous songs in the last 20 years. the hot wild twins are kim and kelly deal. i know the song is hard, the song is jangling, the song is unladylike... but i think the song is impossible to resist. seriously, after all these years, i can't just listen to it once. like, i feel i always have to roll it 'one more time!' here's a note to my darling yuqing: are you curious to know what the inside of my head sounds like? well, this is it, like, 75% of the time. and you just can't beat a cool set of twins. check.

you've come a long way, rosemary

...baby! yes, its been a long time since i had a 'featured smoker,' and tonight its the complicated and highly cool miss mia farrow. if you've never seen 'rosemary's baby,' then you're missing one of the finest movies of that era... or indeed, of any other. i'm not sure where i snagged this shot; i've had it for a long time. she's so cute. so, everyone dig on miss mia... hey, she was once mrs. frank sinatra! (which i've always thought was a little bit odd, i mean... she doesn't seem like his 'type,' ...but i guess that goes to show, when it comes to attraction, anything goes. i mean, hey... two words: woody allen.) hey, don't get me wrong, i love woody. oh well, i'm getting a little verbose here. so dig on miss mia... so cool. but i must admit, i do think she was highly mis-cast in 'the great gatsby.' actually, i think redford was miscast, too. i always thought it would've had more impact had it been cast entirely with unknowns... but that's just my haughty cinematic opinion.

my sweet magnolia

michael nesmith, ladies and gentlemen. i am a proud, unafraid, devoted fan. i think its safe to say i loved mike at first sight. and i don't mean that in the 'teenybopper' sense. actually, i think it was his 'sound' that wooed me so completely. early monkee songs like the wild urgent 'sweet young thing,' are criminally underrated. seriously, listen to that song... forget everything you know about the tv band... and just appreciate the rawness he was able to get away with. that song is so complicated...i don't know where to start with any kind of coherent analysis. it even manages to jab at a bagpipe sound around the solo. i must admit, i'm not sure how much control michael had over the final production of that track, but it IS a michael nesmith composition, and he does sing his heart out... sometimes i wonder how that song made it onto their first release. i think its hardcore. i'll see if i can find a decent version to post. until then, all my blessings michael.

the lighter side of the 'school night'

here's a snippet from the wonderful dave berg, featured in the legendary MAD magazine. i can't say enough about dave berg and the hours of levity i enjoyed reading and re-reading... and re-reading the 'lighter side of...' strips. his attention to detail, particularly his rendering of interiors like bedrooms and living rooms, etc., just rang so cunning and true to life. i loved his use of fine lines and well-planted visual jokes. anyway, this strip just underscores a phenomena of adult life that i believe has yet to get old; even 18 solid years since graduation. seek out vintage MAD's... they're so worth it. (try comic book shops.) ...and click-to-enlarge.

the honeymine

i wanted something orange, so i found this tremendously cool piece jean-lucien assembled at least two years ago. i love the honeyed, drowzy feel of it. film lovers might recognize miss jenny agutter (upper left) from the staggering masterpiece 'walkabout,' and in the lower right, there's a lovely blonde austrailian schoolgirl from the haunting movie 'picnic at hanging rock.' i really should sit down and screen 'picnic' sometime. its supposed to be all like, mysterious with a plot that 'leaves you guessing.' i know this for certain: there are endless white ruffled dresses, long teenage 'girl' hair, and frilly petticoats; so you can bet i'd be on the proverbial 'front lines' for that. anyway, dig it.

cute salute

i've had some positive feedback recently on a collage i posted a while back featuring silent screen legend louise brooks. but i must confess, my heart really belongs to clara bow. here's a lovely lavender slice of notebook art jean-lucien made using one of my older clara bow tributes as part of the background. i should know more about clara. i'm not sure if that's even her real name. her life was a long train of mixed blessings... which was not uncommon amongst hollywood darlings around that time. in any case, i wanted a swath of something purple so i dug this up. even though its small and quite a few years old, i still think its gorgeous. so, here's to you, miss clara.

sweater girl

yeah, i have to admit, i've been sort of fixated on boobs lately... yesterday i went bra shopping,

and wow, like... i went up a size or two. i think i may be the first double D in the family since like, possibly ever. so, i found this sexy shot of miss lana wood in a tight turtleneck sweater, just to remind myself that you don't have to look like damn gwenyth paltrow to be desireable. now, i'm not saying i look exactly like miss wood here, but in all humility, i must admit, i'm comparable. and since i'm committed not to show my face here, please dig on miss lana wood, and appreciate the fact that its not that far off.

bass and drums

so... its late. i'm really not feeling that keen and slightly psychedelic, somewhat metaphysical inspiration. so forgive me if i just mark the day with something like a handmade slice of notebook art featuring morrissey's former drummer and the monkees bassist. peace.

a fifth of ian

here's a screen capture jean-lucien took from 'the fifth element' a long time ago. the quality of the grain and contrast is impressive. it is of course, sir ian holm as father vito cornelius. what a talent... even in this flash, one frame, he manages to express so much. like bogart or rudolph valentino or... dare i compare him to the miraculous gong li? that may be too much like comparing apples and mandarin oranges, still... its a lovely still.

cool wars

my parter sent me this nicely-cropped never-before-seen-by-me bit of star wars artwork. i dig the color and the composition. its wild, how much star wars-related artwork that's floating around our 'galaxy.' i just dig it when i see something like this that i know i've never seen before. so dig it. and may the force be with you.

wonderful

the lovely leggy lynda carter, ladies and gentlemen. she's unreal. she's welcome to the slumber party anytime. i don't really have too much to say about lynda, i mean, i think this picture says it all. they just don't make 'em like they used to, am i right mates? mmm, wonderful.

employed

welcome to my job. you're lookin' at it. credit goes to the artist, the incomparable alphonse mucha.
