if asked, i suppose i'd classify myself as a big albert finney fan. i mean, i haven't seen very much of his work, but i've always thought he was excellent in what i have seen. of course, as a young american child, i saw him manage to maintain his diginity as daddy warbucks in that flailing, misguided trash-heap 'annie.' and not so long after that, i saw him as 'sir' in the 1983 peter yates film 'the dresser.' his performance in that film is nothing short of volcanic. (although it might need to be said that tom courtenay's performance as 'norman' is the real anchor that holds that story in place.) anyway, here's a shot of a younger albert in what i would be willing to bet was his natural habitat. like, i wouldn't be at all surprised if oliver reed was somewhere jussst out of the frame. he looks loike he loikes 'is ale, eh wot? he's sort of a cutie with his carefree lucky smile and his cig hangin' on. hey, albert, hows about a round of darts with mr. reed and um... mr. roy kinnear? (mmm, who let roy kinnear in here?) sigh... i wish there were more quality 'shots-from-the-60's' out there. but hey, i hope you dig this one as much as i do.
