glenda, glenda jackson ladies and gentlemen. thanks to the good ol' HBO guide of the late 70's and early 80's, its hard for me to remember a time when i didn't know the name 'glenda jackson.' and now that i'm 'all grown up,' i realize what a treasure she is. if you've never seen her oscar-nominated performance in 'women in love,' then wow, you're missing some excellent work. and she's so lovely, and smart. she may be 'lovely and smart' personified, now that i think about it. god, that sounds corny, but i think you can dig what i mean. she's got it all... she's brunette, she's got that silky deep voice, a face the camera loves, and she's not afraid to 'bare it and share it,' ...i fact, i think i read somewhere that she was the first woman to go nude on the british stage. you can see some of her best work in ken russell's 'women in love,' (as i mentioned;) as well as ken russell's 'the music lovers.' she kills in that one. she's also memorable in russell's 'salome's last dance.' a very good witch indeed. she's roight class, she is.
