hot trash

don't get me wrong, this slide my partner made is very far from being trash. but hey, nick rhodes smoking a cigarette up there looks kind of trashy. chaz and pherba doing their hippy thing in the center is kind of hot, and the police-shades-wearing miss sylvie vartan on the right is sort of sexy-trashy as she rehearses her hot semi-french mid-1970's act. its gorgeously red, flashy, splashy, trashy, and i love it. if you to click-to-enlarge you can even spot the fitting caption, 'i brake for trash.' a hot slice of notebook art. i love it.

color slide

here is a very groovy-and-lightly-tricked still from nicholas roeg's suspenseful 1973 masterpiece 'don't look now,' based on a work of daphne de maurier; starring julie 'delicious' christie and donald sutherland. i'm a little too tired to weave any poetic words about it. but the image doesn't really need much more than a pair of human eyes to dig on it, you know?

ariel-laise

here's a large-size collage i made a long, long time ago from nothing but hacked-up magazines, glue, and imagination. i have since decided i really don't like to look at louise brooks because she reminds me of helen hunt, whom i really don't like... (she always seems to have some kind of big chip on her shoulder.) ...anyway, its still a pretty sound peice, i think. its tricky to successfully use red and green without it coming out looking it look christmassy. so, maybe its still got that dreamy, upside-down, gypsy-ish feeling i wanted it have at the time. although, it was well over ten years ago. i guess its not too bad. ( and please, click-to-enlarge)

flash bulbs

...and i do mean 'flash.' here is a deep grained shot of mick jagger and anita pallenberg behind the viewfinder. after, please enjoy mick and his barely-legal boys in the fantastic 'memo from turner.'

valentino is dead

here is a collage i made well over ten years ago, using pieces from various sources. it has too much yellow for my taste, but overall, i think its one of my cooler early ones. the girl in the middle i'm 99.9% sure is notorious ragtime starlet miss evelyn nesbit. rumor has it tycoons used to pay her to swing over them in a red velvet swing, dressed in unreported little outfits. the lurid lovely eyes in the backgroung belong to the one and only rudolph valentino... or, as he was christened in Castellenata, Italy; rudolfo alfonso pierre filibert guglielmi di valentina d' antongulla. with a name like that, how could he have ever been anything less than world-famous? i remember making this piece... i tried slipping several pairs of eyes in the overhead space. i had it down to two that really had an impact; rudolph valentino's... and adolph hitler's. both were equally striking, but in the end Love won over Hate, and the honors went to The Sheik.

va-voom!

curves, yes... just look at all that ivory flesh. this is, of course, a never-before-seen-by-me shot of the often-great marilyn monroe. girls, doesn't that look inviting? guys, don't you just want to dive in and sink? what a figure, what a dress... oh well, i don't really have any more elevated comment for this shot except... yowza!

sweet apple jam

this one is pretty old... a few years. it was a journal embellishment jean-lucien put together. but i love the wild 'midnight' juxtaposition of the 'peace child' beatles and tim-curry-as-frank. it shouldn't work so well, but it does, you know? in any case, i've always liked the recklessness and fun of this piece. i almost get a halloween candy taste in my mouth when i dig on it. and george wins.

ten dollars says she will

...ten dollars, huh? this cherry-ripe collage was pieced together by jean-lucien well over a year ago. i'd sent him most of the orginal shots, but he did all the cutting. sometimes the girl of your dreams just falls right into your arms. and sometimes you make ten bucks, too. hey, some guys have all the luck. i wish i could credit the actress, but i don't feel like digging around for her name right now. the guy is michael nesmith. its so lush and lovely. delicious. ( '...i sometimes used to try to catch her, but never even caught her name.' - r. smith.)
