the lotus eaters were found in homer's 'the odyssey.' they were nymphs, i think...that bewitched ulysses and fed him lotus petals, which caused him and his crew to hallucinate or something. ( you'll have to cut me some slack on the specifics; i studied it in seventh grade.... yeah, i know, that's no excuse. ) in any case, this punchy strip of notebook art owes just as much to the r.e.m. song as it does to homer. so drink it in.
