you know, i'm really a little surprised ali macgraw never really made it to the solid position of like, 'sex symbol superstar.' i mean, she was in the media a lot in the late 70's when she was making 'love story,' and the fantastic peckinpah chase flick, 'the getaway.' (with my man steve mcqueen.) i mean, yeah... everybody knew who she was around that time, but she never really got to like, 'jane fonda' level. i think she was definitely good enough to be like, taken more seriously than she apparently was. i love her because she's dark and sexy and tough... she can (cinematically) burn serious rubber in a 'muscle car' and fire off a double-barrell shotgun, all the while looking breezy and cool and beautiful. and today, april 1st, is her birthday. and get ready... are you ready for this? today the 'dark girlfriend' turns... 71 (!) years old. so happy birthday, ali. you know i've always got 'your back,' so to speak. so punch it, baby... take a cool, beautiful deep breath and blow out those candles. you rule.
