i don't feel like, super-inspired tonight, so this might be my only post. jean-lucien just sent this to me today. it was a collage i made at least ten years ago. the original piece was made from 100% found clippings. that means i took them from various sources, which means i had very limited control, almost no control over the size and contrast and texture and color of the images. and it really doesn't mean anything... but i remember thinking it sort of looked like a girl's dreams from a large deep bed near a candle or some other pale nightlight. jean-lucien just scanned it raw and sent it to me. i only tricked it like, minimally. i just cleaned up some of the edges and tried to make the black a little blacker. the original is about the size of a magazine cover... maybe a little bit smaller than that, because i know it fit in one of those photo albums with those cellophane sheets you slip the picture under, you know. but i still like it, after all this time. but i have almost no memory of actually cutting and putting it together. click to enlarge, and please, excuse some of the rough edges.
