first of all, pardon the askew image... it was the best i could do with the image i had. and secondly, i had this set. i vividly remember it was christmas... we'd unwrapped it under the tree that morning, then before we had a chance to play with it properly, we were all packed into the car and driven west to make the annual visit to the grandparents' houses, in the glorious misty mountains of north carolina. i remember the whole time i was out there, celebrating like a good little girl, part of my brain couldn't wait to get home and play with the sleek new set we'd just gotten. it was about...36 to 48 hours later, after dark, when we got back home. the first thing my stepfather did was click on the tv. i'll never forget... HBO was showing the stage production of 'barefoot in the park,' starring richard thomas and bess armstrong. i remember it was on tv as we went to our room and settled in with our dolls and their new playset. man, that was such a long time ago. That store looks amazing! Did it look that good in real life? Sometimes you would open the thing, expecting it'd look like the commercial and/or the front of the box and you'd just have endless, impossible baggies of pieces of plastic.
yeah, it kind of DID look that good in real life. and the multiple clear baggies were a delight to tear open, to get at all that candy-colored plastic in the shape of like, shoes-and-junk. i think the shelves came intact, but yeah, there were a lot of tiny parts. but, by the time we had it all set up, it DID look that good.
